I CAUGHT A VISION!
I caught a vision of a day – a day of reckoning, atonement, and consecration. A day when parents, guardians, and community leaders all converged on the downtown districts of every city in the country to raise their collective voices and declare “it’s time to call our children home!”
As innocent blood continues to flood our streets from senseless violence and murder, we must realize that the solution starts with the home. It is not the responsibility of law enforcement or public schools to teach moral values to our children. It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to provide the kind of home environment conducive to wholesome nurturing. We cannot leave children to their own devices, but rather we should carefully plan a course for them to follow and monitor their steps with diligence and care. Let’s be honest with ourselves; when we call the children home, what are we calling them home to? What would we do, if they came, that would make them want to stay?
• In my vision I saw parents standing hand in hand praying and pleading for their children.
• I saw parents apologizing and asking their children for forgiveness for their failures.
• I saw children shedding tears of joy and relief that parents are taking their plight seriously by show of action.
• I saw politicians admitting that they “missed it” and vowing to use their office of influence to proactively make some positive changes.
• I saw the media refocusing their cameras on the solutions and not merely the symptoms.
And the one thing I did not see in my vision were those who make excuses, point fingers, and say they do not want to get involved. For on this day, we all had one mind to save our future – our precious children.
