HURRICANE!
(THE POINT OF RALLY)
Ever say to yourself, “I wish…” this would happen, or that would happen, or they would do this, or they would do that etc.? And does a particular idea seem so simple or obvious to you, and yet so far-fetched to anyone else?
If so, then there is a very strong possibility that the task was meant for you to do. Take a look at what’s at hand: what is the need; what resources are available to you? Look ahead to see: what is your desired result? Visualize yourself there. Then begin calling upon those resources, and setting things in motion to get there. You’ll be amazed how things will start to fall into place. It’s as simple as that! Belief in action is powerful enough to turn the world around.
The sea of opportunity is available to everyone, and one tiny ripple – the power of one – can start a wave of massive proportion.
To rally is to call together for a common purpose; to revive, and to join in an effort for a common cause.
An ocean wave begins far from the shore. At the start, the blowing wind - touching down on the surface of the water and in collaboration with other aquatic conditions –establishes a rally point, creating a force for the sole purpose of generating as much momentum possible for a collective spillover upon land. Impact!
Throughout history, in the sea of human life, many movements were begun when the creative spirit (wind) lighted upon the heart of mankind (sea), igniting the momentum for a common cause. That’s the point of rally! Just as winds blow for long distances, and waves travel far, movements may be in the making for years and years, until one day, all the properties come together, and a person is raised up to personify that cause (purpose & destiny). Liken this to the concept of naming a storm condition once it reaches the recognized status of hurricane! The names “Katrina” and “Rita” will go down in history as have many others!
We’ve had many historical figures who, if you check their backgrounds, came on the scene amidst circumstances that served as the impetus for greatness. From ancient times right up to now – rulers, commoners, rich, poor, learned, unlearned, old, young – all inspired! Alexander The Great, Cleopatra, Beethoven, George Washington, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Ghandi, John Kennedy, Cesar Chavez, Martin Luther King Jr., and countless others! They courageously and enduringly served as beacons for the waves of change!
But if we could ask any one of them, they’d tell us of the social climate of their day, and of predecessors (unsung heroes) who encouraged or pushed them (knowingly or unknowingly, positively or negatively) to find purpose and meaning, hold to their beliefs, and take the path for which they are known today.
Mind you, there are those who surfed high on waves of ill wind by which they are known too, as in the likes of a Adolph Hitler, or a Jim Jones. For every force moving matter one way, there is a counter-force moving it the other. Ocean particles remain essentially in the same place, as shore-bound waves move them thus-ward, and receding waters move them back. That being the case in life’s struggle, you might say, what’s the use in even trying?
Well let’s consider the popular game of football as a parallel example. Brute forces of opposition – each bent on making a goal. The victor will ultimately prove to be the one with the advantage – better players, better coaching, positive attitude, enthusiastic cheering. It could be combinations of attributes - or just a single factor - that determine the outcome of the game. Inch by inch, yard by yard, the team that overcomes the other will attain an indescribable level of achievement! It’s the same in life. How would we be able to even dream of the taste of sweet victory without facing up to the reality of the opposition? The life - the purpose - the meaning - is in the trying!
God has placed in each of us everything we will ever need to succeed, but we have to know what’s in us – what we’re made of. The only way to know that is to go back to the source, and get instruction on how to optimize our potential. We were created for greatness in the realm of our ability. Our performance in life cannot exceed that for which we were designed. Just as we would not expect the same performance of a plow horse, and a thoroughbred race horse on a race track – nor a V-6 car engine versus a super-charged V-8 engine on a drag strip - our Creator expects no more of us than what we were designed for. Once we discover that – once we know we’re on the path to becoming the best that we can be – life takes on a whole new meaning. But we must dare to make a start! We must establish our own point of rally if we are ever to make a difference in life.
