EATEN ALIVE BY THE RECESSION!
Imagine your boat capsizing in waters where sharks have been sited. While you’re in the water, holding on, waiting for rescue, you begin to think at any time you could be eaten alive and the thought is unbearable!
That is exactly what happened to some sailors in what has to be the greatest tragedy in U.S. Navy history. Just weeks before the end of World War II, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by the Japanese, and of the 1200 officers and men on board, nearly 900 of them abandoned ship as the vessel quickly sank. And because of radio miscommunication, the Navy was not tracking the ships whereabouts.
So for four and a half agonizing days the men stayed afloat by life jacket or by holding on to overcrowded rafts. Many succumbed to their injuries; others became terribly ill for lack of water and food (drinking sea water could kill or cause delirium); but many were picked off and eaten alive as hundreds of sharks constantly swam beneath their dangling feet. The sailors never knew if they would be next as they heard the screams of fellow seamen being snatched away by the sharks.
When help finally arrived, of the roughly 900 men, just a little over 300 remained

Sometimes hearing stories like this helps us put things in perspective. Right now many of us may feel we’re being picked off and eaten alive one by one by such beasts as unemployment, foreclosure, and monetary losses. We’re all subjected to and affected by the recession in one way or other. But if you get discouraged and start feeling that things can’t get any worse, think of the plight of those sailors, or some other extremely terrible situation where a victim was powerless to do anything for him/her self, and yet persevered and lived to tell their story. Pray for God’s provision that you may get through whatever you’re going through; that you may live to tell your story to someone else along the way, so that perhaps they won’t get eaten alive.
